Lime and Gypsum are two natural soil amendments which help to enhance that "living soil" we discussed in our Organic Lawn Care page. Both products are high in Calcium - one of the forgotten micronutrients. By incorporating Lime or Gypsum into your Lawn Care Program, your lawn will actually get greater benefit from all other treatments in your program.

  • Lime and Gypsum "sweeten" acidic soils by increasing soil pH. This unlocks fertilizer and micronutrients, and therefore makes it much easier for the grass plant to absorb and utilize each nutrient.

  • Lime and Gypsum increases the soils microbial activity, which aids in Thatch Control, and Disease Reduction.

  • Lime helps to reduce Moss growth.

  • Gypsum helps to loosen compacted Clay soils.

  • Calcium is a vital constituent of cell walls in grass stems, roots, and leaves. Calcium is also needed for cell division and formation.

  • Calcium enhances the grass plants rate of water uptake and evaporation.

Adding either Lime or Gypsum to your Lawn Care Program will help to improve your soil texture, and to "charge up"  your soils microbial activity, resulting in grass plants which will be more resistant to stress and disease.
