We all strive for that beautiful green color in our lawns, but over the past number of seasons, there has been  a lot of unwanted purple showing up all across Southern Ontario. That purple is the unmistakable sign of maturing Crabgrass in late summer.

Nasty Crabgrass Dude

Crabgrass germinates from seed each year and very quickly develops into aggressive clumps which begin to choke out  our desirable turf. Crabgrass gets extremely aggressive during the hot summer months. Our regular turf grasses begin to slow down due to temporary drought stress, but Crabgrass thrives during this period, choking out more of our good lawn that we've worked so hard to maintain. The crabgrass plants produce seeds at the end of the summer, and eventually die out as the cooler weather sets in, leaving unsightly bare patches in our beautiful lawns.

The biggest problem here is that Crabgrass can produce a whopping 2000 to 4000 seeds - per plant! Compounding this is the fact that these seeds can remain dormant for a number of years, and germinate in any given season if the conditions are right.

With this in mind, it is extremely important to "nip this in the bud" (seed bud that is). Our Crabgrass Control utilizes a relatively new technology which gives us better control than ever, using less product than was required in the past. Dimension Crabgrass Control is our best defense to keep this unsightly  creature out of our lawns. When combined with our Spring Weed Control, Dimension lays down a protective barrier on the soil surface before crabgrass seeds begin to germinate. This barrier then kills the Crabgrass seedlings before they have a chance to even get started!

So if your lawn has any of that ugly, nasty crabgrass, Call us right away - before these plants produce seeds for next years crop!
