We are all concerned about environmental problems in our community. We have witnessed a decline in air, water and soil qualities as a result of human activity. This trend can be reversed. One way of improving the condition in which we live is to turn to nature itself to rejuvenate the earth.

Trees and turf play a vital role in helping to maintain a balance in the earth's ecosystems. Planting trees and maintaining a healthy lawn is a simple, attractive way to help clean up our environment.

Besides the benefits from the products derived from trees which we use daily, and the ornamental and aesthetic beauty of a well maintained lawn and garden, we sometimes overlook an endless list of environmental and economic benefits trees and turfgrass offer us, some of which are crucial to our well being.

Trees and Turfgrass...

  • Regulate global atmospheric systems

  • Filter air pollution

  • Absorb carbon dioxide

  • Reduce noise pollution

  • Provide safer recreational opportunities

  • Prevent soil erosion

  • Provide wind breaks

  • Conserve energy by shading our buildings

  • Increase property values

What Can We Do?

We all can take a significant step to improve the environment by starting in our own back yards. By planting a single tree, we can make a difference. By keeping our lawns thick and healthy, we can make a difference. Each will help contribute to cleaner air, lower energy costs, greater protection of our soil and water supplies, reduced noise levels, a reduction in sports field injuries, and a more serene and beautiful environment in which to live.

Home Sweet Home

Did You Know....

  • Trees are natures air conditioning units. In one year an average tree inhales 26 pounds of carbon dioxide - the amount emitted by an automobile during an 11,300 mile trip - and exhales enough oxygen to keep a family of four breathing for one year.

  • The average home lawn will also absorb carbon dioxide and convert this into enough oxygen for a family of four. Healthy turf also traps dust, pollen and other irritants, keeping these out of the air we breathe.

  • We all produce a half a ton of carbon dioxide yearly. Eight trees consume this amount, therefore if we planted eight trees each year, every year........
