Organic Lawn Care - Old News Here At Underhill’s Landscaping

     Back in 1990, we introduced our first Organic Lawn Plan. We saw the writing on the wall coming from government legislation way back then, and began our testing process to find a quality turf fertilizer that met our high standards. Now, after more than 19 years, our Organic Lawn Care customers are enjoying the greenest, thickest lawns on their streets.  Try one of our Organic Lawn Plans this year - we think you will be pleasantly surprised!

     Over the past many years we have listened to our government’s efforts to dictate what we can & cannot apply to control devastating pests to our lawn & landscapes. We have been very proactive over the past decade, and have embraced all of the lawn & landscape industries' efforts to reduce pesticide use with “new” efforts and products. Our initial introduction of our Organic Lawn Plan well over 19 years ago is testament to our efforts to provide quality lawn care - while reducing the impact to our environment.

 

     However, as of April 22nd, 2009, our Ontario Provincial Government implemented legislation that will hereby eliminate the capability for commercial companies like ourselves and homeowners to purchase and apply any products that could control weeds, insects, and diseases in our lawn & landscapes. We will no longer be able to effectively control damaging levels of White Grubs or Chinch bugs in your lawn, and you will no longer be able to purchase a small bottle to spot spray weeds or control ants in your yard. Unfortunately, our governments’ idea of banning “Cosmetic” use products could eventually lead to a province of minimal grass, weeds, and plenty of dirt. Furthermore, the alternative products on the market today, do NOT provide the effectiveness everyone has come to expect over the years. For more information, please see our pesticide ban web page.
